FAIR EXHIBITOR GUIDEBOOK NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
Proud of your prize petunias? Does your peach pie please the pickiest palate? You might want to enter them in this year’s Central Washington State Fair. Besides picking up a ribbon or two, there is a chance to win some of the thousands of dollars the Fair offers in premiums every year paid out to the best of the best entries. Plus your entry will be on display for some 300,000 people to see!
Sure, the Central Washington State Fair is still two months away, but now is the time to start planning and preparing if you are interested in entering something this year. And everything you ever needed to know about entering an item in this year’s Central Washington State Fair is now available online through the Fair’s Exhibitor Guidebook at www.fairfun.com. The 2010 Guidebook tells how, when and where to enter livestock, food items, flowers, hobbies, fruits and vegetables and more in this year’s fair. It also provides information on contests open for exhibitors, as well as premium information and other useful tips for bringing home a blue ribbon.
Last year the Central Washington State Fair paid out over $100,000 in premiums to exhibitors.
Besides the premiums, Fair exhibitors also can win prizes and money in several contests at this year’s Fair. Some of the contests offer prize money such as: the C & H Sugar Kid Cake Contest - $100.00 1st place, $50.00 2nd place and $25.00 3rd place; SACO Foods Get Happy Muffin Contest - $150.00 1st place, $100.00 2nd place, $75.00 3rd place; King Arthur Flour Cookie Contest – $75.00 gift certificate 1st place, $50.00 gift certificate 2nd place, King Arthur Cookbook 3rd place.
Another fun contest this year is the “Trash to Treasure” contest set up in most departments. Prizes will be given for those who find the most imaginative uses for everyday trash such as coffee cans, old jeans, toothbrushes, men’s ties and more.
The new Central Washington State Fair Exhibitors Guidebook can be found on the Fair’s website at www.fairfun.com by clicking on “how to participate,” click on “competitive exhibits,” and then click on “view exhibitor guidebook.” It is easy to use and easy to enter all kinds of items in this year’s Fair. Those who don’t have online access can call the Fair office at 509-248-7160. Individual department information is available and can be picked up at the Fair office at 1301 South Fair Ave. in Yakima.
This year’s Central Washington State Fair runs from September 24 through October 3.
