Economic Impact

State Fair Park - Home of the Central WA State Fair and the Yakima Valley SunDome is a significant economic generator for the Yakima Valley. A non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, State Fair Park is not subsidized by public tax dollars. Together with Yakima County, we are a public-private partnership. State Fair Park serves the community and the region as a gathering spot for numerous activities and events, including our signature event, the Central Washington State Fair. We have grown from being a once-a-year event to a year-round events facility. Our marketing radius extends from northern Oregon to the Canadian border and from Idaho to the Puget Sound.

Industry sectors affected by activities at State Fair Park include facility support services, grocery, fuel and retail outlets, hotels/lodging, and restaurants. Industry market segments served by State Fair Park include sports, leisure and private, non-profit, government, convention, and corporate events.

Events days are increasing due to recent building renovations and expanding our in-house catering capabilities. An economic impact study produced by Hebert Research in 2005 stated State Fair Park generates an estimated $66.9 million in economic impact to the local and regional economy in addition to creating 2,393 jobs. This same study concluded by stating State Fair Park generates approximately $9.7 million in local, state and federal tax
monies.

These efforts signify our desire for continued growth and development of State Fair Park for future generations of Valley residents.
