CWSF Hay King of the Year

February 12, 2020 - One of CW State Fair’s main missions is to showcase the agricultural products of our region and recognize the ranchers and growers who produce them.
Each year, the Fair puts on the Hay King competition, which was sponsored in 2019 by the Deaton Family of GFI Hay Processing in Zillah. Winning the Central Washington Hay King contest with his alfalfa hay entry, was Bill Lowe of Ellensburg. Bill took home the Hay King cash prize of $500, rosettes and the 2019 Hay King Farm Gate Sign.

Fair Contest: Name Our New Mascots!

July 1, 2019 - This year’s Central Washington State Fair will have two fun, furry mascots, greeting and entertaining fairgoers throughout the 10-day event. But what they don’t have is names for the fun-loving creatures.
So, fair officials are looking for a little assistance. They’d like to get the public’s assistance naming the mascots. Now, through a contest that is being run on-line, everyone has a chance to supply names for the two creatures. Just go to the fair’s website at www.fairfun.com, click on the “Name the Mascot” link and follow the instructions. The winner of the contest will win two fair admission passes, good for all 10 days of the fair, two ride wrist bands, and a parking pass for the 2019 fair. Entries are due July 10. [...] Read More

The Temptations/Night Ranger Added to Lineup

May 20, 2019 - Motown mega group, The Temptations, along with Creedence Clearwater Revisited and country group Night Ranger have been signed to perform at this year’s Central Washington State Fair in September.
The Temptations will be performing on Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. After their first big hit in 1964, the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do”, the group was off and running. Other hits followed over the years such as “My Girl”, “Just My Imagination”, “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”, “Treat Her Like a Lady”, and more.

CWSF Fair Farm Building is Merrill Award Finalist

January 3, 2019 - The Central Washington State Fair in Yakima's Fair Farm Building has been entertaining and educating guests for 20 years, continuing to grow and offer new experiences for young fairgoers. With signs proclaiming "Every time you eat a meal, you become a part of AGRICULTURE!" and "Remember to thank a farmer", the exhibit serves to bring children closer to the ag community. With attractions like the Fair School, Straw Maze, Pony Stable, Milking Barn, and Goat Mountain, children are entertained for hours. Shaded seating and a Mothers' Area complete the experience to increase guest length of stay. All activities at the Fair Farm Building are free with fair admission.

Snickle & Fritz Named New Fair Mascots

August 22, 2019 - Ladies and gents, we’d like to introduce you to Snickle & Fritz. They are the new mascots of the Central Washington State Fair. The two fun, furry mascots recently received their monikers through a naming contest held via the fair’s social media accounts.
During the contest over 100 different name combinations were received, and after they were whittled down, the public voted on the finalists, and Snickle & Fritz won. Byron Schroeder of Yakima made the winning entry and for coming up with the name, he will receive two fair admission passes, good for all 10 days of the fair, two ride wrist bands, and a parking pass for the 2019 fair. Fair Adds Country Artist to Lineup

June 3, 2019 - Scotty McCreery, Tracy Byrd and Shenandoah have been added to the entertainment lineup of the 2019 Central Washington State Fair in September.
Tracy Byrd and Shenandoah, featuring Marty Raybon, will be playing at the fair on Wednesday, September 25th at 7 p.m.
Over the years Byrd has had a string of traditional country hits including "The Keeper of the Star's," "I'm From the Country" and "Lifestyle's of the Not so Rich and Famous" among others.
Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart.” [...] Read More

Josh Turner, Nelly to Perform at this Year's Fair

April 23, 2019 - Country singer Josh Turner, and rap superstar Nelly, will be performing the opening weekend of this year’s Central Washington State Fair in September.
Turner will be performing on Friday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. on the opening day of the fair. The singer, known for his deep, rich voice has had a number of hits over the years including “Hometown Girl,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and the “Long Black Train,” among others.
On the following night, Saturday, September 21, Grammy Award winning rapper Nelly will perform at the fair at 7:30 p.m. The multi-platinum selling artist has had a number of hits including “Hot in Here,” “Ride Wit Me,” “Just a Dream,” and “Country Grammar.” [...] Read More

Racing Added to Both Weekends of the Fair!

June 19, 2018 - Every year race fans look forward to the sprint car races at the Central Washington State Fair. Sprint car racing will again be featured at the Coca-Cola Grandstands on opening weekend, but this year two more nights of car racing has been added on the final weekend of the Fair.
Opening weekend of the Fair will feature the Summer Thunder Sprint Series and Washington Street Stocks on September 21 & 22, starting at 6 p.m. each evening. It will be two big nights of racing featuring the ground-pounding, fire-breathing Sprint Cars of the Summer Thunder Sprint Series.

John Michael Montgomery, Roots & Boots Tour

April 26, 2018 - Two more nights of country music have been added to the Central Washington State Fair entertainment line-up, including one big night with three incredible country music artists in one amazing show.
On Tuesday, September 25, country singer John Michael Montgomery returns to the Fair. With 15 number 1 hits to his name including “I Swear”, “I Love the Way You Love Me”, and “I Can Love You Like That”. Montgomery performs at 7 p.m. His first appearance at the Fair was in 2007.

April 17, 2018 - Even though it is still over five months away, Central Washington State Fair organizers are well on their way to creating the next version of the annual 10-day event. With a whole new line-up

Lupillo Rivera to Perform at the Fair!

June 14, 2018 - Well-known Banda singer Lupillo Rivera and duranguense style musical group Los Horoscopos de Durango will be performing at the Central Washington State Fair in September.Rivera is a three-time Grammy nominated singer who won a Grammy for the Best Banda Album in 2010 for his album Tu Esclavo y Amo. He will be performing on the Corona Stage on Sunday, September 23 at 4 p.m.

April 19, 2018 - Legendary rock band Survivor, alternative rock band Theory Of A Deadman, and 80’s pop band Air Supply have been added to the entertainment line-up at this year’s Central Washington State Fair.
Survivor will be performing on Thursday, September 27 at 7 p.m. at the fair. The Grammy winning group has had several hits over the years including “Eye of the Tiger”, “Burning Heart”, and the “The Search is Over”, among others.

April 11, 2018 - One of the hottest new acts in country music Dan & Shay is set to perform on the opening night of this year’s Central Washington State Fair, followed by another up-and-coming new country duo High Valley on the opening Saturday of the Fair.

Final Weekend Pushes Fair Attendance Over 326,000!

October 2, 2017 - A record final Sunday crowd helped push the attendance of the Central Washington State Fair to 326,273. On Sunday, 51,416 people came through the gates, added to the 58,850 people that attended the fair on the final Saturday, making this the best attended fair in recent history.
Saturday’s attendance was just short of the record final Saturday attendance of 59,551 set last year. Last year’s total attendance was 312,191.
This year’s attendance was up considerably as people came out to enjoy the unique Fair foods, fun, entertainment, exhibits and more.

Smash Mouth/Mark Chesnutt to appear at Fair!

May 3, 2017 - Pop band Smash Mouth and hugely successful country singer Mark Chesnutt will be rounding out the entertainment line-up at this year’s Central Washington State Fair in September.
Smash Mouth will be performing on Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. at the Fair. 2017 Central Washington Fair Theme Announced

March 27, 2017 - This year the Central Washington State Fair is celebrating its 125th birthday. In celebration of the milestone, fair organizers are going to be putting on an extra special event come late September. As an invite to everyone to come help celebrate, this year’s Fair theme is “Let’s Party”

LeAnn Rimes to appear at the Fair!

March 1, 2017 - Country pop singer LeAnn Rimes will be performing on the opening Saturday of the 2017 Central Washington State Fair. The Grammy Award winning artist will appear at the Fair on Saturday, September 23rd at 7:30pm.
Rimes, who hit the top of the country charts at the age of 13 with the song “Blue,” has had a number of other top 40 hits on the country, pop and AC charts over the past decade.
The LeAnn Rimes concert is part of the U.S. Cellular® Concert Series.

Replacement Act for Montgomery Gentry Announced

September 14, 2017 - After the tragic passing of Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, the Central Washington State Fair has booked Tanya Tucker as a replacement act.
Tanya Tucker is an award-winning country music star with a remarkable 45-year career. Her songs have been placed on the top ten multiple times, including her well-known singles, “What’s Your Mama’s Name,” “Blood Red And Goin’ Down,” and “Here’s Some Love”.
Tanya Tucker is scheduled to perform Tuesday, Sept 26th at the Central Washington State Fair.

April 12, 2017 - Legendary rock band Steppenwolf and one of the most popular R&B groups of all time have been signed to perform at the Central Washington State Fair in September.
